How to see your photos on a map on iPhone

Step by step
Turn on location for the Camera
Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Camera and choose "While Using the App". From then on, every photo stores the place where it was taken.
Open the map in Photos
In the Photos app, tap Collections, scroll to Utilities and tap Map. Pinch to zoom in and see the photos of each place.
See where a photo was taken
Open the photo and swipe up. If it has a location, a small map with the approximate address appears.
See a trip's photos on a map
In Backtrack, tap Automatic trip discovery or Choose dates manually. Geotagged photos become stops on the map, organized by day.
See all your trips on a world map
In Backtrack's Map tab, every destination appears on a world map, with visits grouped by city. Tap a destination to open the trip.
If a photo is not on the map
- No location
- Photos taken with Camera location off, screenshots and screen recordings have no place and stay off the map.
- Received photos
- Photos received through messaging apps usually arrive without their original location.
- Share without the location
- When sharing a photo, tap Options at the top of the share sheet and turn off Location.
