Photos, videos and trips
With permission, the app reads dates and coordinates already recorded in the photos and videos you authorize. It does not track your live location. With Live trips on, once a night iOS may open the app in the background to read the dates and coordinates of new photos and let you know when you are traveling; this happens on your device. Your catalog, edits and optional home city stay on your device. Visual analysis runs locally. We do not upload your library, photos or videos to our own server.
Services needed to work
Apple Maps receives coordinates to resolve places and estimate routes. Photos may fetch iCloud previews according to your permissions and quality settings. Importing a cover by URL connects to that chosen server, which may receive your IP address. These services have their own policies. Local processing organizes trips you request; iOS permissions control library access.
Usage data: optional participation
The option is on by default. You can turn it off during welcome or in Settings; we preserve any previous choice to opt out. While enabled, we send PostHog app opens, onboarding steps, imports, discoveries, live-trip notices, playback, exports, video saves, sharing interactions, Premium offer views and purchases, and feedback form openings. Events include their time, app version, environment and a random installation identifier to measure return visits. We do not send trip names or dates, destinations, coordinates, photos, videos, addresses, contacts, IDFA or IDFV. We do not record your screen.
PostHog and retention
PostHog processes events in the United States for up to one year. Connections necessarily reach the provider’s infrastructure; we configure IP discarding for events and disable location enrichment. The on-device queue holds up to 100 events, expiring after seven days. Opting out stops new sends, clears the queue and resets the identifier. It does not delete events already received. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
Sharing and purchases
Exports are saved to Photos with add-only permission. You choose when and with whom to share. Chosen services have their own policies. Apple provides checkout; we do not receive card details or Face ID. The evaluation version uses test purchases. Any future commercial offer must show its price, period and conditions before confirmation.
This website and support
This site uses no analytics or advertising cookies and no session recording. Hosting processes technical connection data to deliver and protect pages. When you email us, you provide the address and content needed to answer; avoid unnecessary photos or personal details. Support correspondence is retained as needed to address the request and applicable obligations.
Your choices and rights
Change permissions in iPhone Settings and opt out of usage data in the app. Request information, access, correction or deletion of data we control using the email above. To find usage events, copy the identifier from the Privacy screen before opting out; we do not need your gallery. Deleting the app removes the local catalog, but not original photos, Photos exports or previously shared files. There is no account or Backtrack catalog restoration. Cancel any subscription separately through Apple’s subscription settings. Material changes will be published here and communicated in the app where needed.
